Free Security Freezes for All Now In Effect

Free Security Freezes for All Now In Effect 1024 664 Consumer & Business

Effective Sept. 21, 2018, security freezes are free to all consumers as part of a recent change to Federal law. Freezing credit files for children under 16, unfreezing credit files, and year-long fraud alerts are also available at no cost.

A security freeze (or credit freeze) stops the major credit reporting agencies from sharing your credit information with potential creditors. So if you have no plans to make a big purchase or take out a loan or make another transaction that requires a credit check, a security freeze can help you avoid identity theft.
