About this Event

Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Office of Economic Development invites you to attend a celebration of LA Women’s Entrepreneurship Day 2019.

“Together We Rise”

In recognition of the significant impact women business owners have made on the Los Angeles economy and quality of life despite significant obstacles, Mayor Eric Garcetti and the Los Angeles City Council declared November 19 to be Women’s Entrepreneurship Day in Los Angeles. The goal of the LA WED Celebration is to inspire, empower, and catalyze diverse, yet like-minded individuals, agencies, and organizations to help women-owned businesses realize their full potential in Los Angeles and throughout the world. All are welcomed to join in the celebration and partake of the resources available.

The LA WED Celebration will include remarks from successful and emerging local women entrepreneurs, a business development resource expo, and networking opportunities with various influential public and private officials and representatives.

9:00 am – 10:00 am: Registration

Arrive early to secure your spot, review program handouts, complete your business assessment, and mingle with other guests

10:00 am – 11:00 am: Speakers

Welcome remarks by Mayor Eric Garcetti following by remarks from founders of a variety of companies who will share their stories of challenges and victories on their pathway to successful business ownership

11: 00 am: Breakout Session – “Mindset Mastery” Panel

What does it mean to have a business mindset? How do you develop a business mindset? How does one maintain a business mindset despite pitfalls and obstacles? This panel discusses the set of skills, attitudes and behaviors that entrepreneurs need to succeed.

12:15 pm: Micro-Workshops about Micro-Finance and Small Business Lending @ the FOUND/LA booth

Come learn everything you need to know about financing in just 10 minutes!

12:15 pm -12:25 pm: What you need to prepare for a strong loan application.

12:30 pm -12:40 pm: What you should know about your lending options.

12:45 pm -12:55 pm: What you should know about predatory lending and your borrower rights.

1:00 pm: Breakout Session – “Creating Your Wealth Cycle” Panel

This panel focuses on business and financing strategies to grow your business and build wealth. Learn innovative and transformative approaches to wealth management. Discover means of boosting profitability, increasing valuation, and planning the growth of your business.

12:00 pm – 2:00 pm: Resource Expo

Is exhibit space available?

To maintain a non-commercial, robustly educational environment, exhibitors at this event are by invitation only. Space is reserved for government agencies, procurement and contracting decision-makers, lenders, providers of free to low-cost technical assistance, relevant nonprofits, and outreach partners. The exhibit area is now full. If your organization meets the above criteria and you’d like to register for our waitlist, please email mayor.communitybusiness@lacity.org with the name, email address and phone number of your contact person and we will alert you if a table becomes available. Even if you are not able to participate as an exhibitor, we hope you will attend the program and benefit from the unparalleled networking this event affords.
