Statement by Rafael Carbajal, Acting Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs, on California Governor Gavin Newsom signing twelve consumer protection bills, including the establishment of the new state Department of Financial Protection and Innovation, on Friday:

“The Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs applauds California state leadership for taking a bold step to establish what promises to be the country’s strongest state consumer financial agency. The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation will further protect Californians from predatory financial practices and help foster a fair marketplace that works for everyone. DCBA and our Center for Financial Empowerment look forward to working in partnership with the new department to bolster our efforts in bringing added economic stability and household wealth to the residents of Los Angeles County.”
