On May 25, Los Angeles County’s Department of Consumer and Business Affairs’ Office of Labor Equity (OLE) joined the Department of Economic Opportunity in hosting a resource fair and visiting local businesses to share critical tools and resources with businesses, workers, and consumers on historic Whittier Boulevard in East Los Angeles.

The resource fair was highlighted by staff from OLE who informed attendees about worker protections in Los Angeles County, including the upcoming The resource fair was highlighted by staff from OLE who informed attendees minimum wage in the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, which increases to $16.90 an hour on July 1. The fair also included a dozen participants who shared information on rehabilitating business locations, hiring incentives, immigration, legal services, and jobs. The resource fair is the latest collaboration to help the worker and business community thrive in Los Angeles County.

OLE staff also delivered their information directly to the local business community. In the weeks leading up to the resource fair, OLE contacted more than 300 local business contacts in East Los Angeles, including more than 10 in-person door-to-door visits during the resource fair itself. This proactive outreach informed workers and business owners who were unable to attend the resource fair in person.
