October 2024 – Commercial Cannabis Online Community Meeting
The Office of Cannabis Management hosted an online community meeting focused on the proposed rules and regulations for commercial cannabis businesses to operate legally in unincorporated LA County. Watch this video to learn about the proposed regulatory framework including draft commercial cannabis zoning ordinance provisions and business operating requirements.
October 2024 – Candid Conversations About Cannabis: Pubic Health 101
Public Health 101 examines the impact of cannabis on health, including an overview of the endocannabinoid system, conditions where cannabinoids have medical benefits, short-term and long-term health effects of cannabis, and the potential impacts on the developing adolescent brain. Additionally, this workshop will cover methods to reduce the harms of cannabis use for people who use cannabis.
September 2024 – Candid Conversations About Cannabis: The Science Behind Cannabis
The Science Behind Cannabis examines the scientific aspects of cannabis, including its chemical composition, understanding THC and CBD, and effects on the body and brain in its different forms.
August 2024 – Candid Conversations About Cannabis: Informed Cannabis Use
Informed Cannabis Use provides helpful information to make responsible decisions regarding adult cannabis use, including understanding laws pertaining to personal use, harm reduction strategies such as safe storage practices, associated health risks for at-risk populations, and identifying symptoms of over-consumption.
July 2024 – Proposed Cannabis Business Permit Program Public Meetings
The Office of Cannabis Management hosted a series of public meetings in July 2024 to discuss proposed regulations for commercial cannabis businesses to operate legally in unincorporated LA County. These meetings (eight in-person and 1 virtual) presented draft regulations and covered topics including permit requirements, safety and security standards, locations where businesses may be allowed, and strategies to enhance public safety and enforcement. Additionally, OCM gathered public feedback to help the County refine its rigorous permitting and compliance standards, support a well-regulated cannabis industry in unincorporated areas, and make sure the proposed changes will benefit and protect the community.
July 2024 – Candid Conversations About Cannabis: History of the War on Drugs
History of the War on Drugs provides historical context for the War on Drugs, examining the impact of punitive and targeted cannabis enforcement policies and practices on marginalized communities, and efforts being taken to repair past cannabis criminalization through Senate Bill 1294 (California Cannabis Equity Act) and social equity programs.
June 2024 – Candid Conversations About Cannabis: Understanding Cannabis Rules & Regulations
Understanding Cannabis Rules & Regulations explores the complex landscape of cannabis laws and regulations and provide an overview of the legal frameworks governing the cannabis industry, including state licensing requirements, quality and safety standards, and the importance of a regulated market. *Please note this is a general overview of cannabis rules and regulations and not specific to the County.

March 2023 – LA County Cannabis Equity Program Community Meeting
The Office of Cannabis Management held Community Feedback Sessions throughout the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County in March 2023. OCM hosted four in-person and one virtual session to gather community input that will help shape the County’s future Equity Program. The meetings follow the release of the Cannabis Equity Assessment, which includes preliminary recommendations for the County to support an equitable cannabis industry.
