June 29, 2026 Report Back on Improving Language Access in Los Angeles County

Since our last report in December 2025, DCBA’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (OIA) has continued to implement the Countywide Language Access Policy, as well as support Los Angeles County departments in sustaining and advancing language access efforts across the County. Throughout this period, OIA focused on several key initiatives, including:
• Reviewing the departmental annual Language Access Plans that all departments have submitted to OIA to ensure they meet the requirements of the Countywide Language Access Policy.
• Continued to convene the Language Access Working Group to support cross-departmental coordination, implementation, and problem-solving.
• Launched the application process for a Language Access Community Advisory Group to strengthen community engagement and stakeholder participation in County language access efforts.
• Advanced workforce and departmental support initiatives, including the development of the County’s Language Access Hub and expansion of language access training resources.
• Supported departmental innovations and best practices related to language access implementation, data collection, service delivery, and multilingual communication.
